Linden also paid tribute to the hall and its outreach programs for bringing B.C.’s rich sports history to the entire province. Stories like that of 2011’s pioneer inductee, the 1933 Chinese students soccer team, are important, he said.
“That’s real cultural and helps us understand what was going on back then,” he said. “It’s about the environment these young people had to endure and live through. It’s a message to us all. Sport kind of helped them get through a difficult time.”
