加華紀事 Toishan Letters Workshop #2

加華紀事 Toishan Letters Workshop #2

Sometimes expert skills in language and history come not from the university, but from the community. On the weekend of the June Dragon Boat races, Chinese Canadian Stories researcher  Joanne Poon  organized another day-long workshop, with the help of with the Chinese Canadian Stories team, to decode early 20th-century Toishanese letters with community elders.

Again a resoundingly successful day, more letters were read, and this time, recorded in Toishanese for future use.
